The mood in the Cullen house was subdued , even Renessmee and Henry seemed contented to play quietly together.
They all sat together in the large family room ,there was no need to be alone.
When Carlisle and Esme joined them there eyes merely shifted and then continued with their discussions.
" That may work Edward , but if we are discovered we will be totally isolated " sighed Jasper
" I would know if they decide to follow us in time for us to leave , I'm sure of it " added Alice stroking Jaspers hand , he sighed and closed his eyes.
" Its perfect " smiled Rose her gaze not leaving Henry.
" How long would it take for new properties to be built ? " whispered Bella , she loved her family but she also loved her nights with Edward and if the stories about Emmett and Rosalie were true well........!
" What have we decided ?" asked Carlisle
" Edward thought it would be a good idea to take a long vacation" Alices eyes shifted to the children playing on the floor next to them , " over to Isle Esme you know just.... to ..get away...for a while" she smiled but it didnt reach her usual sparkling eyes.
Esme glanced at Carlisle and smiled,
" Oh Carlisle its has been a long time since we have been to my island , I would love that."
" That is a great idea , and if Alice is right we will have planty of time to evacuate if needed" Carlisle smiled and patted Edwards shoulder.
" How long before we leave , we do need more accomodation " Bella smiled.
" Bella sweetheart with the right motivation and price we will be ready to leave in less than two months" Carlisle stood and flipped open his phone , he was soon in deep conversation in fluent portaguese.
Bella sighed and moved towards the door , Edward shook his head.
"I have to tell him Edward" she whispered
" Why?" he spat
"I owe it to him , he needs to know we are taking her away for her own protection not to take her from him"
" You owe him NOTHING! " he shouted and pushed past her and out of the door.
Bella turned to look at the rest of her family , Carlisle had stopped mid conversation and they were all glaring at her
" Shes right " came a quiet whisper,
Bella closed her eyes and smiled , it had been Rosalie
" I didnt realise what it was like , until we had Henry and now the thought of losing him , I hate the dog as much as everyone else does but we dont understand the customs of the wolves and he will be less likely to follow or talk if he knows"
Carlisle wrapped his arms around his daughter,
" Even after a century my Rose , you still amaze me " and he kissed her cheek.
" Bella let me talk to Edward " Emmett whispered he had spoken at all through the discussion , Bella nodded.
Emmett found his brother sat by the edge of the river skimming stones which embeded themselves in nearby trees.
" Em your the last person i thought would turn against me" Edward spat
" Hey Bro , I'm not turning against you ok " Emmett slumped down on the moist earth next to his brother.
" Edward she has a point ".. Edward began to stand Emmett pulled him back down " just listen will you , I didnt know what it was like to do the whole grown up , parent thing until Henry arrived , I'd seen the way you reacted to Renessmee , but I never really got it ..you know .. but now, I cant imagine if she took him away and i didnt know were they were". Emmett sighed and turned to his brother.
" Dude he was a bastard for what he did to you and our family , but if he knows he is less llikely to talk , you know if anyone comes looking " he shrugged and left Edward to his own thoughts.
" Thanks " Edward whispered
" Anytime" Emmett smiled.
Carlisle had finished making arrangments when Edward entered the room , he knelt infront of Bella and placed his hands in hers.
" I'm sorry " she whispered, he held up his hand to stop her
" No I'm sorry , i do understand why , even if I dont like the idea you are right." he kissed her gently on the lips, " but
your not to go alone and I cant go I dont trust myself enough to be near him "
" I'll take her" Jasper stood and looked at Alice , she glowed with pride and smiled and her eyes shone.
" Thank you Jasper , I need to go and see Charlie too and just say we are going away for a family vacation"
" Mommy was a vaction ?" asked Renessmee glancing up from her game,
" Sweetie , remember your dream of an island and the blue sea " Esme smiled lifting her onto her lap
" Uh huh"
" We are going to a place just like that" Esme laughed.
" Really mommy , are we all going even Henry and Grandfather" squealed Renessme
"Yes we are all going on a big family vacation " Bella laughed pecking her daughter on the cheek.
" Henry will need papers Jasper" shouted Emmett from upstairs,
" OH yes I will have to pay Mr Jenks a visit " Jasper smiled , even Bella thought he looked a little scary,
"Can I come with you " she asked , she new how frightened Jenks was of Jasper but she wanted to see it first hand she was curious , she had never reallyseen that side of Jasper from another point of view that is.
" Of course " he smiled knowing why she wanted to join him
" SHOPPING! " laughed Alice and all eyes were on her , she smiled
"What!? , I havent been away on vacation for decades and i'm sure my swimsuit isnt in fashion anymore and Jasper will need new things and Bella.... does nessie have any vacation clothes" , Bella went to open her mouth , " No , I didnt think so , Renessmee come we are going shopping" Alice held out her hand to her and she took it will a shrill scream.
" Yeah , I love shopping!" Renessmee cried , everyone laughed and Bella just shrugged but joined in.

chapter 25
Alice gasped and her hand shot to her mouth, jasper was there in seconds holding her close to his chest,
"What is it Alice" he asked
"Marcus.......Marcus knows there is something going on , Felix was going to confide in him but he didnt" she exhaled
"Marcus?" Jasper looked towards Carlisle puzzled.
"Has he decided to act on it?" Carlisle enquired
"No?" she whispered
"Marcus is telling the others that Felix is handling the situation" she mused
"But why would Marcus help Felix?" Carlisle flipped open his phone and withing minutes Edward , Bella and Renessmee arrived on the porch
"what is it Carlisle" Edward asked as he walked into the living room, then he looked down at his daughter and nodded this was obviously something they couldnt discuss around Renessmee,
"Nessie why dont you go and find Henry and see if he would like to go out and play....but stay close" he smiled and she skipped off upstairs.
"what is it Carlisle has something happened " asked Bella
Carlisle sighed and sat down whic was highly unusual for him he looked tired and worried , something Bella knew was impossible , vampires didnt get tired ok they got worried but they didnt react to human emotions as.... well 'humans' did.
"Marcus knows Felix is hiding something from them" he sighed closing his eyes, Bella sat down next to him.
"Do the others know" she asked
"No he isnt telling the others and I dont know why, maybe he is helping Felix for some reason" he shook his head
"Is he coming here?" asked Edward, and Carlisle looked towards Alice,
"He hasnt decided to yet, I dont think Felix knows everything , I have picked up the fact that he had Demetri track Gianni for a while , to the aunts house but I dont think he actually knows himself what he has found, he doesnt know about us yet" she smiled half heartedly.
"It wont take long before he does and when he does..." Emmett broke off and walked towards the large windows, "Carlisle I cant let them take Henry it would destroy Rosalie" he sighed
"Nobody is taking Henry, Emmett"
"We need to get our affairs in order" he mused not talking to anyone in particular, "plans must be made" he continued , then he looked up and everyone was gazing at him. he composed himself "I'm sorry but if ..no sorry when they find out we will have little time to act" he looked at Esme and sighed,
"Plan?" she looked into Carlisles face , knowing they may need to separate for a while and she shook her head and ran upstairs.
Bella had never seen Esmes perfect control faulter like that before.
Jasper stood up and made his way to the stairs , he was stopped by a hand on his shoulder "Its alright my son I'll handle this" Carlisle smiled
He walked upstairs and into their room it was on the second floor facing the east..Esme loved to watch the sunset.
The room looked out of place in this minimle modern house, it was furnished in antique furniture probably collected through the years and the room commanded a four poster bed dressed with Brocade curtains and linen to match.
Esme was stood at the windows her hans clasped tightly in front of her,
"My beautiful Esme" he cooed as he crossed the room
"Carlisle , I'm sorry i shouldnt have reacted that way it was selfish of me" she whispered
"Esme , sweetheart it may not come to that , but I fear if they visit again we may not survive it this time" he exhaled placing his arms around her waist and pulling her close.
"If that is indeed the case then I will go with you , I will not leave you carlisle" and she put her head on his chest.
He sighed and laughed quietly to himself , "Do you remember the first time we met oh how you blushed when I spoke to you"

"Then i saw you again , even though age had changed your face I knew it was you and that I had to save you...." he laughed again queitly "A very selfish act on my part" he sighed.
She pulled back to look into his eyes " ""My wonderful , wonderful man I would have followed you to the ends of the earth" she leant up on her tiptoes and kissed him firmly on the lips.

chapter 24
The sound of the elevator humming drowned out the mans cries,
"Why! , why are you taking me to them" he cried his breathing ragged as he was dragged by the two cloaked men towards the elevator door, music now replaced the humm and they dragged him into the elevator.
"So did you find it" the smaller of the two men whispered
"Sh... yes I went to where you saw her go" the other replied cocking his head down to the man between them.
"What" the other replied deliberatly not keeping his voice down, "Whose he gonna tell , he'll be dead in five" he laughed kicking the mans leg with his boot.
"I dont care just keep it too yourself dammit" and he glared at him.
"Okay ,okay..sheesh"
PING!
The elevator door opened and the men walked towards the large oak doors , through the reception ,that stood empty , Felix glanced over to the empty desk and sighed a little,
"What the hell did you see in her in the first place, or do you like playing with your food before you eat it" Demetri laughed cruely
Felix stopped and dropped the mans arm , he towered over Demetri but this didnt stop the rat from annoying the hell out of him , Felix squared up to Demetri and hissed in his face " Shut the hell up" and then he turned , picked the mans arm back up and knocked on the doors,
They opened with a thunderous noise and the man began to whimper again as he looked up he could see the the Masters all sat in their high backed thrones, as usual Aro was seated in the middle he sat upright looking very important,Cauis to his left was in deep conversation with Alec , Jane stood close by and the man cowered as he saw her, she smiled to herself but ignored him. And lastly to Aros right sat Marcus he was looking out of the tall thin windows his face almost translucsent in the sun , he looked far away.
"Ah Demetri, Felix you found Angelo" smiled Aro childlike in his enthusiasm,
They dropped them mans arms , made a little bow and stood behind him,
"Marcus , Cauis look who we have here" his voice was high pitched almost helium like,
The vampires turned to look at Angelo who was kneeling with his hands locked together , Marcus sighed and went back to gazing through the window , Cauis however stood and moved towards the kneeling man so gracefully he looked like he was gliding , he had a cruel smile on his face and he hissed as he came to a stop beside him,
"How many times have you been told about this now Angelo? , my brothers are far too soft on you" he hissed
"I'm sorry , please forgive me but the virgins that come they are so mouthwatering" he smiled sheepishly
Cauis laughed "Be that as it may , the virgins are ours and we do not just walk out into the streets and take them" he spat
"No you have your girl herd them up like sheep" he hissed,
Aro joined Cauis from his seat,
"Since when do you pass judgment on our feeding methods , we have fed this way for thousands of years and yet we still live in peace" Aros voice was like velvet yet it cut through Angelo like a blade.

Edward and bella made their way back to the cottage , Edward had his daughter cradled in one arm and the other was around Bella,
"Edward, do you think I will ever be like I was befre all this happened" she sighed
"Bella my love it will take time to control your emotions and thirst again , but we have all the time in the world" he kissed her cheek
"I love you" she whispered
"As I do you he smiled
"Wuv u" murmered renessmee as she stirred
"We love you too princess" they laughed together, they lay her on her bad and sat outside , there was a howling coming from deep in the forest..
bella looked at Edward "Yes it worries me too" he sighed answering her thoughts
"What if he gets close again" she whispered
"Then Alice will see or not see as the case may be" he sighed
"Then YOu cant" she broke off, he shook his head
"No I've tuned him out why?" he looked at her and sighed, stood and walked into the forest
"Dammit bella" she cursed , she walked in and went to check on renessmee , she could understand why he had watched her sleep , nessies thumb moved to her mouth and bella wondered if she was re living the nightmare.
"Jasper , Bella needs you" smiled Alice looking up from a book she was reading, he looked puzzled,
"Shes been trying to decide whether its safe to leave renessmee alone whilst she comes to see you" she smiled
"Alone? wheres Edward?" asked Carlisle
"He decided to hunt alone, he says he needs space" she hissed in a disaproving tone
Carlisle stood and looked at Esme who nodded and smiled,then he left with Jasper.
Bella could smell Jasper as he approached ,
"Come in" she whispered he walked in and found her sat beside nessies bed he held out his hand and they sat outside together.
"Alice?" she smiled , he nodded
"What is it Bella"
Jaz i need to learn how to control myself again, please you have experience with this I need your help" she exhaled
"How?" he asked
"When you live with Maria you trained newborns to work together and be ...well more civilized will you train me?" she smiled
"You will need to learn how your emotions are triggered and then reign them back in " he explained
"But my trigger is my family thats when it flares up , i cant keep on putting them in danger until I learn to pull it back" she sighed
"No I'm not expecting you too , at the moment simple things trigger you especially when you thirsty" and he slapped her across the face she jumped up and hissed at him it obviously hadnt hurt but it took her by suprise.
"What the hell did you do that for" she hissed her hands balling up, he stood and placed his hands on her shoulders
"Breathe, focus" he repeated to her , she listened to him closing her eyes he waited till she had opened them again and slapped her face again , she stood back and hissed he repeated the same request.
"Ok thats enough for tonight before one of us gets hurt" he laughed , she agreed being slapped in the face wasnt how she imagined he would help but she trusted him.
"Goodnight Jasper and thanks....I think " she laughed... she stood looking into the forest and longing to see Edward again she felt a hand on her shoulder,
"Don't worry Carlisle has gone to find him, he'll talk him round whatever it is" and he left.
Carlisle found his son pacing in the meadow, he didnt acknowledge Carlisle was there,
"This is were it all started" he hissed "And over there the dog ended it , I sometimes wish it had been him Bella had kille instead of Leah"
"Edward thats not the answer , can you imagine her guilt if she had" he stood infront of him and took him by the shoulders
"Then what is the answer Carlisle, please I need to know" he spat, glaring at him with darkened eyes..
"Sorry I didnt mean to....." he broke off
"Edward you have to stop blaming yourself first, you could not have forseen what jacob was going to do , what he was capable of, none of us could"
"If I hadnt left her.." Edward began,
"You did it for her own good as you thought at the time, little did we know how strong the bond was between you, that you were destined to be together",
"But.." Edward interupted
Carlisle continued ignoring his sons interuption, "She chose you, after everything you put her through for those endless months , she flew half way around the world to save you and very nearly scrificed her own life doing so......Edward! sge came up against the Volturi for heavens sake , most vampires don;t even live to tell the tale but she did , you all did"
"Thanks for reminding me" he laughed dryly
"You need reminding son, I know you never dreamed you would ever meet a mate someone you could spend your life with , but you got Bella and a daughter , you got a life the rest of us have only dreamed of having , but with that life there will be trials but you are both strong enough to fight it...together" he sighed
"Thank you father" Edward smiled and Carlisle glowed that had been the first time he had ever called him father( away from human ears).
"I realise now that for whatever reaso he will probably always be a part of bellas life , but she chose me and for that i will be eternally blessed" he smiled
"Exactly , now dont you think its time to went home to your wife and daughter , Bella needed jasper as I left I do not know why" and they ran towards the cottage.

They neared the river and he pounced they tumbled into the river and there came a booming laugh from the house,
"So you like playing games huh?" he growled playfully " well i got you now"

She sighed and within seconds they were on the large white bed.........

The old telephone in the cabin buzzed to life , Billy picked it up "Hello"
"Hello Billy its Carlisle" came the voice on the other end of the receiver

"I have made arrangments to meet Billy at dusk in the clearing..." "Youve what ....... but.."she interupted and glared at Alice who shrugged and stood beside Jasper.
"I have something I need to ask you both" he continued,
"Carlisle" Edward warned , but again he ignored the interuption and continued to speak, he knelt down in front of them
"Bella my daughter you have suffered severly at the hands of Jacob Black, we all have,what he put us all , especially you and Edward through is unforgivable and Billy needs to know , and you cannot continue to carry around this guilt, we" and he looked round at his family " we have long memories , if you dont find peace from these anxieties they will haunt you forever2 he sat back on his heels waiting for bella to take in what he had said,
Edward put his hand on hers, she looked at it then placed hers inside of his , Jasper exhaled the tension had dropped.
"what is it you need to ask Carlisle" she said quietly
"I need to ask your permission to take my grandaughter with me" Bella looked up in shock, then looked at Edward for reassurance,
"But why"
"She is the only one of us Billy will believe , she can show him what happened, what he put her through" carlisle stood and walked ove rto the large windows
"Hasnt she been through enough carlisle without having to re live it again" bella sighed
"You know I wouldnt ask if there was any other way bella" he looked at Edward and then back at bella
"I'll go with him Bella" Jasper spoke softly from the other side of the room
"Make that two of us" Emmett smiled
She looked confused at Edward "Bella my love Carlisle is right , she is the only one who can show him the truth and shes very brave like her mother" he smiled his crooked smile and she faultered , she stood and walked over to Carlisle she took his hand and pushed the cuff of his crisp white shirt up to reveal his ID bracelet , she played with it in her fingers and he placed his hand on hers,
" With my life " he whispered in answer to her silent request.
"Renessmee" called Bella
"Hi" she giggled as she danced down stairs,
"Nessie , grandfather has something to ask you" she smiled

"I'm sorry angel" he sighed and kissed her hair
"renessmee do you think you could show Billy what you have just shown daddy" Carlisle smiled , she looked at her parents and round the rest of her family Jasper winked at her,
"Sure" she smiled
"You are a very brave little girl" smiled Rose who had been listening from the bottom of the stairs,
"Is he coming here"
"No we are going out to meet him
"Mommy will you come with me" , everyone froze,

"Yes my sweetheart I will be there with you" she smiled
"Are you sure Bella" Carlisle asked quietly
"If my daughter is brave enough then I am , but Jasper and Emmett can still come too"

"No, Edward" she looked into her perfect husbands face "it will be difficult enough for Billy me being there, If I need you alice will see" she kissed him.

As they left Alice joined Edward at the piano "Dont worry Edward as long as Billy is alone I will be able to see them" she smiled and lay her head on his shoulder,
"Thanks Alice" he smiled
Billy was already in the clearing when they arrived , Sam had driven him up and would wait for him to call incase he needed help.
he was angry Carlisle hadnt come alone "What are they doing here" he spat
bella held her daughter close to her body , nessie buried herself under her mothers long dark hair.
"I have brought them because you need tohear the truth Billy" Carlisles voice was calm.
"I know the truth , you leeches came back and stole my best friends daughter, then nearly killed my son" Emmett guffawed behind Bella
"Billy....is that what you honestly think" she snapped , but Carlisle held up his hand to silence her.
"Carlisle why did you really want to se me"............
"Hello Billy its Carlisle" came the voice on the other end of the receiver
"What do you want doc" he snapped

Well I bid you goodnight" he smiled and returned to the forest followed by the pack.
The clearing erupted into celebrations,
Bella however was quiet she began to walk home , Emmett nudged Edward and gestured towards her. he caught up with her,
"Bella what is it" Edward asked stopping her
"Nothing its fine, I suppose i'm just glad its all over" she lied
He exhaled "Aw my love" he sighed , she had lifted her sheild,
"I'm fine " she smiled and continued to walk , she looked back he wasnt following her "You always were a lousy liar" he smiled
"Its just..." she sighed , he grabbed her hand in his, "Its just what should I tell Charlie when I dont appear at the funeral Edward , he will want to know why"
"We'll tell him we are looking at schools for Renessmee , out of town"
"Your so good at this" she sighed , he had always been able to lie covincingly,
"Its not something I'm proud of , its just survival" he sighed
"Did you ever think that it was me that drove him to do all those things Edward ,Jacob I mean, I hurt him so many times" she looked at the floor
"Drove him! , no bella you didnt" he spat
"But I pulled him in giving him false hope and then rejected him , I used him for comfort when you......" she broke off
"I cant believe what I'm hearing bella, so your saying , what! , you deserve what happened to you" he grabbed her face between his hands
"You didnt drive him to this and you did not deserve what he did to you to us!" he hissed
Bella laughed half heartedly,
"What!" he hissed
"Your so sexy when your angry" she smiled
"And you are totally impossible , shall we go home" he shook his head and grabbed her hand.
"Yes , please" she took off at a run but he soon caught up , they walked the rest of the way to the cottage.
He opened the door and as they walked in bella stopped and picked up the note from the floor , Edward took it from her hand and crumpled it up in his hand, he pulled her over to the bed and they lay not speaking just looking at each other.
Edward was the first to break the silence "You know , now you have told Carlisle about what happened do you feel empowered?" he asked teasing with his crooked smile and golden eyes looking to her.
She took one finger and placed it at the top of his shirt with a swift flick the bed was a shower of buttons.
"mmmm" he mummbled
"You know how many of my shirts youve destroyed" he laughed
But she was already kissing the hollow of his neck , moving slowly up to his chin and then his ear , his lips searched for hers but she pulled back alittle, his breathe was ragged "Dont tease thats so not fair" he pouted
"And your going to do what about....." she didnt have time to finish her words his lips were crushing down on hers with so much force her breathe was now ragged , he pushed her down onto her back and raised himself onto her , "See still my Bella , just a little less breakable" he smiled.
They only knew it was morning when streaks of light and dust bunnies danced around the cottage ,
Edward held himself up on his elbow and traced her body with his fingers , "I love you" he smiled , Bella sat and found his lips they kissed passionatly and then she pulled back , "Renessmee will be awake my love" she smiled
He sighed and within seconds he was dressed , "Come on my love lets go get our daughter" ,
As they walked to the house , Edward was a little quiet,
"I could have lost you bella , I was going insane , thinking he had his hands on you trying to rip us apart" he sighed
"Edward he couldnt hurt me physically I am so much stronger than him , the only thing that kept me from running and killing him was you" she smiled
"Bella it wasnt your strength I was worried about" he laughed
"Edward I love you and no guilt trip would ever have changed my mind, he didnt love me he was obsessed by me" she pulled herself closer to him she placed her hands on his face and closed her eyes, every scene from the cabin flashed through his head he tried to pull away but she held him tight.
"No Edward you must see this" she sighed "See he never loved me, I dont think he knew what he wanted from me"
"I can guess" he growled "He had his hands on you and took cheap shots at you when you heard me outside with Emmett and jasper" he hissed
"Ssh I know" and she kissed him.
They arrived at the house and Alice was on the porch waiting for them , Edward stiffened,
"Charlies on his way to see you " she said
Bella looked at Edward "What do I do" she whispered
"Its upto you my love shall we leave, carlisle can make excuses for us" he smiled stroking her cheek
"No I need to stop running away from things, I'll see him, its not as if he knows who did it" she smiled putting on a brave face and raising her sheild
"Are you sure" sighed jasper, feeling the rise in her emotions,
"Yes , but stay close please Jaz" she smiled at him
"I'm not going anywhere" he replied with a smile
"How long Alice" asked Edward, she looked at him his eyes narrowed, he swallowed deeply and turned.
"what is it" Bella asked
"Nothing its fine" he whispered walking to the door
"Come on lets get you a top up before he comes" he laughed but it didnt reach his eyes,
"Not until you tell me what Alice saw" she spat
"It's nothing honestly"
Bella stood with her arms folded and glared at him, he exhaled and Jasper was behind her,
"Nothing, really?, is that why jasper needs to be so close for.....nothing"she hissed
"Bella" Edward walked forward and put his arms out , but she didnt move.
"Edward tell me please" her eyes were solid and she tried hard to control herself
"Bella , Billy is coming with Charlie" he whispered
She froze, Jasper placed his hands on her arms,
"No" she whispered, "No I cant see Billy , not yet" and she ran from the house.
Edward was behind her in seconds , "Bella" he shouted
"Edward no i cant see Billy" she shouted and continued to run
"bella stop please"
She slowed and found herself in all too familiar surroundings , she was in their meadow.
Edward knew he could catch her but he also knew she was thirsty and extremely upset so he kept his distance.
"I cant Edward" she whispered again,
he slowly turned her around and she buried her head in his chest , he held her close the silence between them was so intense no words needed to be said they knew exactly what the other needed....
